CPL. James Adolfo Requenez

Cpl. James Adolfo Requenez, a U. S. Army Ranger assigned to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, died during the swamp phase of the U.S. Army Ranger Course at 6th Ranger Training Battalion, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, March 25, 2021.

Requenez, 28, was born May 4, 1992 and enlisted in the U.S. Army from his hometown of San Antonio, Texas April 2018. He completed One Station Unit Training and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon completion of the Basic Airborne Course, he was assigned to 1st Special Warfare Training Group as a Special Forces Student.

In February 2019, he volunteered to attend the 75th Ranger Regiment’s Ranger Assessment and Selection Program 1. Upon successful completion of RASP 1, Requenez was assigned to Company A, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as an assistant machine gunner.

His military education includes the Basic Airborne Course, the U.S. Army Ranger Course, Special Forces Preparation and Conditioning Course, and the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program 1.

Requenez’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.

He was posthumously promoted to Corporal, awarded the Ranger Tab, and the coveted Army Commendation Medal.

James is survived by wife Nieves Requenez, father, Adolfo Requenez Jr, mother, Alicia Requenez, and sister Amber Requenez.
